The Hostage Tower was directed by TV man Claudio Guzmán (his prior feature work was Linda Lovelace for President - 1975), from a story by Alastair MacLean. A criminal mastermind kidnaps the President's mother, and holes up in the Eiffel Tower, protected by killer lasers. Featuring Bond girls Maud Adams and Britt Ekland, a rare appearance from Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Rachel Roberts, who committed suicide soon after filming was completed.
