No good deed goes unpunished, as Pascal, a simple newspaper seller rescues a drowning stranger, who then embroils him in a plot to frame him for murder. Luminous photography, a classic contemporary score by Jean Yatove and lively direction from Gilles Grangier make this Hitchcockian thriller with touches of noir a great, if traditional example of 60s French cinema.
