A vengeful female vampire's spirit is released from her tomb and possesses a wealthy young heiress, who preys on the young women of her village.

This art house horror weaves a unique spell, with Jean Prodromidès' music accentuating a melancholic romance. Vadim was rarely served so well with subject, sets, cinematography and performances.
