Cannibal Ferox (1981) Australian Daybill

Although it wasn't made with the ferocity of Ruggero Deodato's Ultimo mondo cannibale (Last Cannibal World) in 1977, Umberto Lenzi's Man From Deep River (Deep River Savages / Sacrifice!) in 1972 did kick off the cannibal / undiscovered tribe genre. It did well enough in Australia to warrant tying them together by making this seem a sequel to it.

Lenzi again directs, where an expedition to disprove the existence of cannibals obviously fails, leading to the deaths of most of the cast. Borrowing the 'bringing violence down upon themselves' idea from Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust (1980), several of the explorers are degenerate, coke snorting monsters themselves, who practically beg to be slaughtered and eaten - unfortunately involving a few of the innocents along the way.
