Welcome to L.A. (1976) UK Quad Poster #New

The interleaved lives of a group of dissatisfied, purposeless Los Angeleans, who are shaken up by the arrival of Carroll, a young musician who arrives to record an album. Writer / director Alan Rudolph was Robert Altman's protégé, and this, his first Altmanesque film - after horrors Premonition (1972) and Barn of the Naked Dead (1974) - was emotionally stilted, something he managed to overcome by the time of his biggest successes, Choose Me (1984) and Trouble in Mind (1985).

Here, Rudolph is aided by a top cast brilliantly depicting the shallowness of the decadent L.A. rich, although Turner Classic Movies did warn that 'the music score by Richard Baskin may affect your viewing pleasure'.
