Count Yorga, Vampire (1970) UK Double Crown Poster #New

Originally planned as a softcore porn film called The Loves of Count Iorga, Vampire it  was ultimately shot as straight low budget horror by actor turned director Bob Kelljan. He'd started directing with an incest drama Flesh of my Flesh (1969), but had his biggest hit with Count Yorga, Vampire, followed by Scream Blacula Scream (1973) and The Violator aka Rape Squad (1974). Then his career seemed to fizzle away, with spasmodic TV show directing gigs until things dried up in the mid 80s. But with his vampire and revenge films, he created a vibrant down and dirty atmosphere, and was a pioneer of the downbeat ending.
