Stepford Wives (1975) UK Quad Poster #New

Denied a wide UK release, The Stepford Wives was picked up by Contemporary Films, who were more of an arthouse distributor, hence the cinema club-style destinations. It also explains the reason why the quad poster is constructed from pressbook material, something few films were (see Necromancy).

For a satirical polemic about the replacement of ordinary women with subservient well-endowed robots, director Bryan Forbes took a lot of flak over the casting of his wife Nanette Newman to start with, as well as being subjected to angry feminist demonstrations upon it's release. The final scene showed Katharine Ross in her 'new improved version', given large prosthetic breasts created by make up effects wizard Dick Smith. Ross was reportedly very pleased with them.
