Starring in TV series Holocaust (1978) brought Michael Moriarty attention, but it was his ground-breaking, quirky performance in Q - The Winged Serpent that cemented his 'out there' reputation and set the stamp for the majority of his subsequent roles. Larry Cohen, utilising both the stop motion work of Randy Cook and David Allen and spirited playing by the ultimate cult cast, made a classic monster movie.

Unwary citizens are plucked and devoured from the city's roofs. Small-time jazz pianist (Cohen took advantage of Moriarty's real-life talents) holds New York to ransom, as he's the only one who knows where the creature's lair is. Detectives already have their hands full with a spate of Aztec ritual murders - could they be connected?
