10 Rillington Place (1971) UK Quad Poster (Style A)
This dour full colour artwork emphasises Richard Attenborough's uncanny resemblance to the real-life murderer John Christie. His sordid killings are disturbing because of their commonplace nature, mirroring life in depressed post-war London. Top support from Judy Geeson, as his unfortunate victim, and John Hurt (who received a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor) as her illiterate husband.
Directed by Richard Fleisher with the same unblinking gaze at the mundane essence of murder he showed in Compulsion (1959) and The Boston Strangler (1968). Albert Pierrepoint, the man who actually hanged both Evans and Christie, served uncredited as a technical adviser.
