Flesh for Frankenstein (1973 R82) US 1 Sheet Poster
The 1982 Landmark Films rerelease poster hints at the 'Lion in your lap' tagline for Bwana Devil (1952) the film that sparked the initial 3D craze. Paul Morrissey directs, with Antonio Margheriti doing a couple of days second unit shooting. With money going further in Italy, and being assigned a crew three times the size he was used to, Morrissey utilised the local talent to great effect.
The cast is a wonderful blend of Warhol's The Factory (Joe Dallesandro), arthouse horror from Udo Kier (Mark of the Devil, Exposé and Suspiria to Breaking the Waves, the Iron Sky franchise, Halloween (2007) and Brawl in Cell Block 99). Then there's ex-skating champion and Belgian beauty queen Monique van Vooren who started as the ivory poaching villain in Tarzan and the She-Devil (1953) and effectively retired after Frankenstein, and most importantly Nicoletta Elmi, the pinch-faced little redheaded girl, who worked with Mario Bava in Bay of Blood and Baron Blood, Dario Argento in Deep Red, Massimo Dallamano in The Cursed Medallion, and, after a pause, turned up as the usherette in Lamberto Bava's Demons (1985).
