A playboy lives the life created by a pair of married cartoonists - he convinces them to start a new strip, the plot he interweaves into his own, spoiled life. But the new storyline begins to deal with murder... Set in an idyllic corner of Switzerland, the drama escalates between the creators, the ego-driven rich kid and his over-possessive mother.

Alain Jessua was best known as the writer / director of the disturbing Traitement de choc (1973) with Alain Delon (Duchaussoy also appears) in which a sinister clinic's rejuvenation treatment proves to be more than just 'animal cells'. Rather like Jack Clayton, Jessua was an infrequent filmmaker, completing just 10 films stretched across forty years. Here, his meandering story has just enough inner tension to conceal where it's ultimately heading - it won Best Screenplay at the 1967 Cannes Film Festival. There's also a storming title song by the Alan Bown Set.
