Death on the Fourposter (1964) UK Quad Poster #New

An early, but low body count giallo, as the genre was still finding its feet in the mid sixties in terms of tone and structure. Here, a group of hedonistic friends take over a creepy castle for a weekend of partying and paranormal investigation. One of them - a psychic (John Drew Barrymore) warns them that they should all leave. He's ignored of course, and the killings begin.

The gothic trappings are the best part, with production designer Demofilo Fidani already practiced after Crypt of Horror and the stunning Il mostro dell'opera (both 1964), and shot by Raffaele Masciocchi, who mainly photographed sword and sandal epics, but had made The Terror of Dr. Hichcock (1962).
