Horror of Party Beach / Curse of the Living Corpse (both 1964) UK Quad Poster #New
A Del Tenney double bill, featuring the first horror musical! Warren magazines made a photo comic of this to boost publicity, but producer / director Tenney was still surprised at the success of his melding of beach party and horror. There were still enough bloody elements to get it refused a British certificate until heavy cuts were made.
Haiving ownership of the entire double bill gave Tenney maximum profits. Cost saving was paramount - shooting back to back, the films were made in three weeks each. Curse of the Living Corpse was shot entirely on the estate of Gutzon Borglum, the man who carved the president's faces into Mount Rushmore. It was also the screen debut of a certain Roy Scheider, who got his role through Candace Hilligoss, the troubled protagonist of Carnival of Souls (1962).
Condition: VERY GOOD / FINE - although there is tape strengthening to the rear (see picture), the paper stock is unusually thick to take the poster paint-like ink. Subsequently there is no evidence of the tape on the front.
Cast: John Lyon, Alice Lyon / Linda Donovan, Margot Hartman
