A man with a singular vision, director Meir Zarchi's first film was the rape/revenge exploitationer I Spit on Your Grave, starring Camille Keaton whom he subsequently married. Thereafter he made rape/revenge exploitationer Don't Mess With My Sister (1985), before returning to produce the 2010 I Spit on Your Grave remake, then I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013), I Spit on Your Grave III: Vengeance is Mine (2015) and I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu (2019) with Keaton reprising her original role.

Misreading and banning the film became something of a worldwide phenomenon - it clearly sides and sympathises only with the female author - yet it was decried (often sight unseen) as misogynist and celebrating violence towards women, where the opposite is true. And yes, it has been confirmed that the figure on the poster is Demi Moore.
