How quickly fashions change! Between the film's Italian release in 1973 and it's UK release in 1974, the film had undergone a title change - from Mr Hercules Against Karate to Mr Hercules Against Kung Fu. The poster had already been printed up with the original title, so a matching snipe covers the lower portion. Although it looks like a classic Bud Spencer / Terence Hill team up, in true Italian knock off style, it actually stars Spencer / Hill impersonators Alberto Terracina and Fernando Bilbao as two hapless oil rig workers who travel to Hong Kong on a mission to rescue a boy from his stepmother and her Kung Fu Master boyfriend.

Directed by Antonio Margheriti (as usual credited under Anthony M Dawson) it was produced by Carlo Ponti, whose mainstream credits include La Strada (1954) and War and Peace (1956) in collaboration with Dino De Laurentiis, as well as Doctor Zhivago (1965) and Blowup (1966). However, he must have got a taste for more exploitable fare, as his seventies output included Sergio Martino's Torso (1973) and Flesh For Frankenstein (1974).
