Mutant (1984) Teaser and Style A US 1 Sheet Posters #New

Selling as a pair (Teaser A-1 and 1 Sheet), this is one of the 80's lost 'zombie' classics (along with 1985’s Warning Sign) that slip past many fans. Two brothers, run off the road by rednecks for being ‘city boys’ are trapped in a southern town where toxic waste is turning the locals into zombies. Mutant showcases a highly athletic performance from Wings Hauser, and an accurately spaced out one from Sheriff Bo Hopkins, playing a recovering alcoholic. It lurches from some clunky exposition to furious set-pieces; an autopsy gone wrong, trouble in the kid’s toilets and a never-bettered nightmarish end sequence, where the zombie hordes just continue to burst through every available opening, leaving Wings flailing wildly at them with a bit of pipe.

Mutant may end with an odd ‘Louis, I think this is going to be the beginning of a beautiful friendship’ moment, but both protagonists have lost loved ones, and the Sheriff’s Department is going to have to exterminate the town’s entire junior population after the credits roll. It was directed by John ‘Bud’ Cardos after Mark Rosman was removed.
