Ravaged / Blonde & the Black Pussycat (1970 / 1969) UK Quad Poster
Marketed as the world's first 'sex-horror film', (although lesbian scenes were removed for the US release), Ravaged is a pastiche of Les Yeux Sans Visage (1960) by way of Corruption (1968), with a gothic sensibility, sinister dwarfs and Howard Vernon as the surgeon who can never get his face-grafting technique quite right. It all looks more suptuous than it deserves to, courtesy of lighting by Roger Fellous, who only a few years before had shot Bunuel's Diary of a Housemaid (1964).
The Blonde and the Black Pussycat is a German sex-comedy directed by Italian Giuseppe Zaccariello (one of his only two directed films), who is better known as the screenwriter and producer of Mario Bava's Bay of Blood (1971).
