Stranger is Watching (1982) US 1 Sheet Poster

From the man who directed or produced Last House on the Left (1972), Friday the 13th (1980), House (1986) and sequels, DeepStar Six and The Horror Show (both 1989) plus another four Jason entries, I'm not sure Sean S. Cunningham gets the praise he deserves. And the gritty A Stranger is Watching is far from the standard 'teen in peril' film of the era, as it's based on a more substantial work by Mary Higgins Clark, only her second thriller, written in 1977. 

A man's wife is murdered in front of their young daughter. Three years later, she and the man's new girlfriend are kidnapped by the same killer, who's been observing them all the time. He drags them to an underground bunker, deep beneath Grand Central Station, as the police struggle to locate them, leaving the pair to plot their own escape.
