Universal Monsters Lyon Festival (2016) French Petite Poster
Poster for the Festival Lumière, situated in Lyon, where the Lumière brothers shot their pioneering 1896 short Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat. The festival is an extension of the Cannes Classics mini-festival, shining a spotlight on films from the recent and distant past, highlighting the work of archivists and historians.
In 2016 French cinema was represented by the films by Marcel Carné, the master of “poetic realism,” and the bestowing of Le Prix Lumière on Catherine Deneuve. There was also a short run of Universal horrors, among them the original 1931 Dracula and Frankenstein films.
